About me

Megan Backman
I'm working on my secondary education credential with an endorsement in mathematics. I'm passionate about using my computer science background within my future mathematics classroom. I believe the future of this country depends on creating technologically literate students who do not solely use technology, but have the ability to create technology. I'm the mother to 2 young girls who started learning the basics of coding at 3 years old (Robot Turtles, anyone?). Follow me on Twitter @MBackmeg

Simply Complex

"The art of simplicity is a puzzle of complexity."

A "blonde" sort of day

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Some days it feels like my brain is partially absent. I think this is one of those days. Here is how the afternoon with my coworkers has gone thus far:

(Trying to identify the animal living in the pond by our office)
Me: It's totally a Muskrat! (reading from Wikipedia) "Muskrats are most active at night or near dawn and dusk. They feed on cattails and other aquatic vegetation."
S: Just cattails? That's an odd thing to eat.
Me: You do know they are talking about the plant, right?
S: Oh.

A few minutes later:
P: If it's a muskrat you know what song we have to sing, right?
Me: "Muskrat Sally"!

A few minutes later, still talking about the muskrat:
S: We need to name it!
Me: How about Musket?
S: No... what about one of the names of the 3 musketeers? What are their names?
Me: Moe, Curly...
S: Those aren't the 3 musketeers.
Me: Then who are they? The 3 amigos?
