Megan Backman
I'm working on my secondary education credential with an endorsement in mathematics. I'm passionate about using my computer science background within my future mathematics classroom. I believe the future of this country depends on creating technologically literate students who do not solely use technology, but have the ability to create technology. I'm the mother to 2 young girls who started learning the basics of coding at 3 years old (Robot Turtles, anyone?). Follow me on Twitter @MBackmeg

4 Month Stats

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Lily had her 4 month check-up yesterday (even though she technically isn't 4 months until the 15th). She weighs 9lbs 6oz and is 23 inches long. In layman's terms, that means she's small. Like 1st percentile small. Developmentally she's right at her target if not a bit ahead because she's a champion at rolling over, babbling, holding her head up and supporting her weight when she stands up. I guess when you aren't surrounded by an extra 10lbs of baby fat it' s a lot easier to maneuver your little body. The doc did recommend trying to get a few extra calories in her each day, either by increasing the amount at each feeding or increasing the frequency of feedings and introducing some solids. Operation make Lily chubby started and failed yesterday! I decided to try feeding her every 1 1/2 - 2 hours even though she doesn't get hungry until the 3 hour mark. I paid dearly for my efforts. Lily has a tiny tummy. She can't handle the extra food. She has no where to put it. Which means, down the hatch it goes and a few minutes later, back up it comes. We went through 2 bibs, 2 burp clothes, a full size hand towel cleaning up all her messes yesterday afternoon. This next week we're going to try giving her some oatmeal. I have a feeling secondhand oatmeal is not going to be quite as easy to clean-up as secondhand milk.
